Baldwin Music Education Center

The Baldwin Music Education Center has provided special music classes for children aged 6 months and older for over 60 years. Classes take place in a group setting, which provides a fun and engaging environment for kids to learn with their friends. The school’s classes include “Musical Beginnings,” which is a class designed for children between the ages of 6 months and 24 months. Students attend with their parents and explore singing, rhythm, and movement.

Students can continue their learning with the “Music for Little People” class for ages two to three, and “4’s/5’s Encounters” for students aged four to five. In these classes, students continue their singing and percussion lessons while being slowly introduced to an instrument, either piano, guitar, or violin. Additionally, the school offers two different piano programs, the first for six-year-olds not going into first grade and the second for students in first grade and older.

Classes are held at the All Saints Episcopal Church in Pleasant Ridge. If you’re interested in seeing how classes work, you can schedule a visit for you and your child to observe a class. If you’re interested in enrolling your kids, the center’s website provides session details and contact information.

Queen City Music Studio

Queen City Music Studio is a Cincinnati music school with locations in both Hyde Park and West Chester. Each location contains a beautifully furnished suite of music studios equipped to teach students a variety of instruments, including piano, voice, violin, viola, cello, drums, flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, tuba, French Horn, guitar, and ukulele. Instructors teach a variety of styles, including classical, jazz, band, rock, folk, and blues.

If you’re looking for lessons for your young children, Queen City Music Studio has an excellent early childhood program to help your kids begin their musical journey. Queen City’s “Little Mozart” programs are designed for kids between the ages of three and six and provide instruction in piano and voice. The school offers lessons seven days a week on a first-come, first-served basis. Lessons are individual and can be 30 or 45 minutes. This flexibility allows the Queen City instructors to tailor their lessons to your child’s skill level and learning style.

Students taking voice and instrument lessons are given private weekly lessons in their choice of length, from 30 to 60 minutes. These lessons are scheduled by appointment and can be started at any time of year. Solo recitals are held three times a year to encourage goal-setting, practice, and accomplishment. Queen City also offers month-to-month lesson plans, so you’re not required to make a long-term commitment or payment. If you’re interested in more information, you can visit the Queen City website to view their calendar of upcoming classes and register your student.

Cincinnati School of Music

The Cincinnati School of Music is an award-winning studio with locations in Mason, Olde Montgomery, and Anderson. The school was founded by a couple with a passion for sharing their musical knowledge with students of all ages and now includes over 50 teachers. These teachers provide instruction on piano, guitar, ukulele, voice, drums, violin, viola, cello, bass, flute, and clarinet. Many instructors have prestigious backgrounds in music education from some of the country’s leading universities.

Lessons are individual and are available seven days a week in all three of the School’s locations. To make lessons easier for families, the faculty tries to hold classes for different family members on the same day. If you want to see if the Cincinnati Music School is right for your child, you can book a trial lesson and meet with a potential instructor. Lessons are 30, 45, or 60 minutes long and can be over Zoom if you prefer. Instructors at the school also help their students develop their skills by providing several performance opportunities throughout the year.

Unlike some other schools, the Cincinnati School of Music focuses on training students in traditional musical techniques, including sight reading, to give students a strong foundation for whatever they pursue in the future. While the school’s lessons are available for learners of all ages, their main lessons are targeted at children over the age of five. However, the Cincinnati School of Music also offers special programs for children between the ages of three and five. These “Discovery Lessons” help children develop basic musical skills like rhythm, pitch, singing, melody, tempo, and ear training.

The Cincinnati School also uses a month-to-month payment structure with no long-term commitments, and your kids can try out other instruments if they’re not enjoying their lessons. If you’d like to enroll your kids in a class, you can do so in person or go to the Cincinnati School of Music website.
