You can fit eight people in the Sequoia’s standard setup, which includes a second-row bench seat. For a touch more comfort, you can add second-row captain’s chairs, which’ll reduce the overall capacity to seven. Several upscale features come standard, including heated and power-adjustable front seats. You can add other attractive options, such as leather upholstery, a power-folding third row, ventilated front seats, and heated and ventilated second-row seats.

The first two rows offer plenty of legroom and headroom for adult passengers. The third row can accommodate adults for short trips, but it’s probably best left for kids during long drives. The third row can slide back and forth to increase or reduce legroom as required. You’ll find plenty of options for installing kids’ seating, including LATCH connectors for the two outermost seats in the second row.

Toyota Sequoia Cargo Space

The Sequoia offers significant cargo space even when your cabin is full of passengers. You’ll find over 22 cubic feet behind the third row, which should be enough to transport your daily necessities or collect a load of groceries from the store. If you need more room to carry bulkier items, you can open up 49 cubic feet with the third row folded flat and more than 86 cubic feet when both rear rows are folded down.

If you’re moving from home or heading on a camping trip, the Sequoia also boasts impressive towing abilities. You’ll be able to haul a large utility trailer or family camper thanks to the towing capacity of 9,520 lbs. Even the lower towing limit of 8,980 lbs in some trims should provide more than enough muscle for most people. The Sequoia’s four-wheel-drive setup is ideal if you plan on towing off the beaten track or just want more control of your vehicle while pulling a heavy load on the road.

Sequoia Infotainment and Safety Features

Even in its base trim, the Sequoia offers various infotainment features. They include an 8-inch touch screen, an eight-speaker stereo, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. You’ll also benefit from Bluetooth connectivity, a navigation system, and several USB ports. Finally, the Wi-Fi hotspot will help you stay connected to friends, family, or work colleagues no matter where you go.

All other Sequoia trims apart from the base SR5 have a 14-inch infotainment screen. Another optional upgrade is the 14-speaker premium stereo, which improves your listening experience. You can also add wireless device charging for your phone and a 120-volt household power outlet, which is especially handy if you’re at a campsite or heading off on a road trip.

Since the Sequoia is a large vehicle, Toyota has equipped it with several standard safety features to assist you when parking. These include front and rear parking sensors and a surround-view parking camera that provides an aerial view of your SUV as you maneuver into position.

Other standard tech includes forward collision warning, cyclist and pedestrian detection, and automatic emergency braking. Adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning will prove helpful on the highway, while the traffic sign recognition feature alerts you to relevant driving guidelines. You also get a rear-seat reminder, which alerts you to check the two rear rows before you leave your Sequoia so you don’t leave pets or kids behind. You can add a head-up display to see performance and navigation info on the windshield.

Sequoia Trim Levels

There are five trims for you to consider in the 2023 edition of the Sequoia: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, and Capstone. The MSRP for the base trim is $58,300, while the range-topping Capstone starts at $75,300. All trims feature the Sequoia’s new hybrid drivetrain, which includes a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine, an electric motor, and a 1.87 kWh battery pack. This system generates 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. The estimated fuel economy is 21 mpg on city roads and 24 mpg at highway speeds.

The base SR5 trim comes equipped with cloth upholstery, heated and power-adjustable front seats, and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. Stepping up to the Limited gives you synthetic leather upholstery, rear sunshades, a heated steering wheel, and ventilated front seats. Another helpful feature in this trim is the power-folding third row. On the exterior, this version of the Sequoia benefits from 20-inch alloy wheels and a hands-free power liftgate.

The Platinum trim extends the luxury throughout the cabin with genuine leather upholstery, heated and ventilated captain’s chairs in the second row, the 14-speaker stereo, and a sunroof. You get the option to add the head-up display and a rear air suspension.

The TRD Pro reverts to the Limited’s interior features but adds an extensive list of off-roading equipment. For example, the Sequoia gets heavy-duty shock absorbers, a skid plate, a roof rack, all-terrain tires, and a locking rear differential. This trim is only available with four-wheel drive. The Capstone trim gets perforated leather upholstery, the head-up display, and the Platinum’s interior features.
