LE and LE Hybrid

toyota camry updates 2023 model

The Toyota Camry LE includes LED combo taillights with black trim, Bi-LED combination headlights with an automatic on/off function, 17-inch alloy wheels, a front grille in dark gray, and a shark-fin antenna on the roof. Like the SE, SE Nightshade, and XLE, the LE has a 2.5-liter Dynamic Force four-cylinder DOHC D-4S engine. This powertrain has dual variable valve timing with intelligence (VVT-i), reaches 203 horsepower at 6,800 rpm and 184 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm, and can switch between Eco, Normal, and Sport driving modes.

Meanwhile, the LE Hybrid includes many elements found on the LE but adds a hybrid powertrain and rides on 16-inch steel wheels with wheel covers. Like all Camry Hybrid trims, the LE Hybrid uses the 2.5-liter Dynamic Force DOHC D-4S injection engine with four cylinders and VVT-i, but in a different configuration.

The hybrid versions, including the LE Hybrid, produce 176 horsepower at 5,700 rpm and 163 lb-ft of torque at 5,200 rpm. The total horsepower, though, is 208 due to the support of the electric motors. It can switch in and out of Eco, Normal, Sport, and Electric Vehicle driving modes, the latter allowing you to operate the car entirely on electric power for up to 25 miles.

SE, SE Hybrid, SE Nightshade, and SE Nightshade Hybrid

Along with Bi-LED combo headlights and a black front grille with a lower sport mesh insert, the SE steps things up from the LE’s set of features with color-keyed sport side rocker panels, 18-inch black machined-finish alloy wheels, and a color-keyed rear spoiler. Body color, power side mirrors with turn signal indicators, and two chrome tips on the exhaust are also added. The SE Hybrid adds to or replaces the LE Hybrid’s standard features. You’ll get the color-keyed sport side rocker panels, 18-inch black machined-finish alloy wheels, and so on, but with the 208-horsepower hybrid setup.

Taking it further, the SE Nightshade Edition adds to or replaces features offered on the 2023 Camry SE, with the inclusion of black power-adjustable side mirrors with turn-signal indicators and heating functions, black window trim, 19-inch TRD matte bronze-finished alloy wheels, and a black shark fin antenna. You’ll also get the rear spoiler, headlight and taillight trim, black rear Toyota emblem and “CAMRY” lettering, and the SE trim-level badge in a matching black Nightshade color. You can also find the SE Nightshade in a hybrid version, which is the same but naturally includes the hybrid system.

XLE and XLE Hybrid

The XLE trim is meant to be a bit of a fancier upgrade to the LE compared to the SE. The most notable differences are the LED taillights with black trim, LED headlights with auto on/off, and LED daytime running lights. It rides on 18-inch dark gray machined-finish alloy wheels and has chrome accents for the dark gray grille, power-adjustable and heated side mirrors with turn signals, and a chrome exhaust tip.

The XLE Hybrid adds to or replaces features found on the LE Hybrid, including LED taillights with black trim, LED headlights, and LED daytime running lights with auto on/off. That version rides on 18-inch dark gray machined-finish alloy wheels and has body-color heated side mirrors with turn-signal indicators and chrome highlights.

XSE and XSE Hybrid

The XSE trim level builds on the SE’s feature set, adding LED taillights with black trim, LED daytime running lights with auto on/off, LED headlights with black trim, 19-inch gloss-black alloy wheels, dual exhaust with quad chrome tips, and a gloss-black front grille with a sport mesh lower insert. The standard engine included in this model is the Dynamic Force four-cylinder 2.5-liter DOHC D-4S injection, also with Eco, Sport, and Normal driving modes, and with VVT-i. It generates 206 horsepower at 6,800 rpm and 186 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm.

The XSE Hybrid adds to or replaces features offered on the SE Hybrid, including the XSE’s LED lighting features, gloss-black grille, and 19-inch wheels. Both have a front motorized tilt/slide moonroof, and overall they stand out as great choices for a premium new Toyota Camry.

TRD

Named for Toyota Racing Division, the TRD replaces or upgrades the features offered in the Camry SE for a sports-car appeal. Most notable from the outside are the TRD gloss-black front splitter, side aero skirts, rear diffuser, 19-inch TRD matte-black alloy wheels, cat-back dual exhaust, and red TRD insignia. The powertrain, which is exclusive to this trim, the XLE V-6, and the XSE V-6, is a 3.5-liter DOHC V-6 D-4S injection engine. It has the same VVT-i as the lower trims, three drive modes, and other features, but it offers 301 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 267 lb-ft of torque at 4,700 rpm.

XLE V-6 and XSE V-6

The Camry XLE V-6 replaces or upgrades the functionalities given by the XLE, and not just with the 3.5-liter engine. Features include a front motorized tilt/slide moonroof with a panoramic glass top and dual exhaust with chrome tips. Last but not least, the Camry XSE V-6 upgrades or replaces items on the XSE, such as the 3.5-liter engine and a panoramic glass roof.
