All-Star Weekend in Cincinnati, OH

July 8th, 2015 by

The highly anticipated weekend is finally here- Major League Baseball and all its fans, reporters, players, and personnel descend up on the Queen City for five jam-packed days. As a Cincinnati native, what can you expect—beyond a lack of parking downtown? What events can you attend—and how much will you have to spend? Here’s our guide to the All-Star Weekend in Cincinnati:

Friday, July 10

Fan Fest (Friday-Tuesday) at Duke Energy Center. You’ll find baseball legends signing free autographs, Baseball Hall of Fame memorabilia, celebrities, mascots, batting cages. Nike, Wilson, Louisville Slugger, and other national MLB sponsors, along with all 30 teams, will have booths to wander. Basically, Duke Energy will be chock-full of photo opportunities. Bring the kids and download Snapchat beforehand. (Adults $35; children 12 and under, seniors 65+, college students, military members $30)

Saturday July 11

Color Run MLB All-Star 5K at Sawyer Point. The classic color run with a baseball twist. Definitely a family-friendly event! (Individuals $50, Team of 4 $45/person)

MLB All-Star Concert at Paul Brown Stadium. This free concert was originally headlined by Ariana Grande. She’s since pulled out, and no replacement has been announced yet. No doubt she’ll be replaced by another big name. If you weren’t able to snag a ticket before they were gone, we’d suggest hanging out at Smale Riverfront Park to hear the concert without a ticket. (Free, but sold out)

An Evening with Pete Rose at Taft Theatre. Pete Rose himself takes you on a journey through his childhood and playing career, in an interactive and theatrical space. All the thrill of baseball—without the massive, overwhelming crowds. (Tickets range from $32.50-$125)

Sunday July 12

MLB All-Star Youth Hitting Challenge at UC’s Marge Schott Stadium. Kids between 10 and 16 can participate in a two-part hitting challenge. Tickets are free, but all have been snatched up. (Free, but sold out)

Futures Game at Great American Ball Park. 50 top minor league prospects form teams and face off. At the time of publishing, tickets on StubHub for this game (which includes the All-Star Legends and Celebrity Game) ranged from $12 (standing room only) to around $500 (diamond seats). (Ticket prices range. A lot)

All-Star Legends and Celebrity Softball Game at Great American Ball Park. This game follows the Futures game and has teams formed with stars like Cole Swindell, Jordin Sparks, Urban Meyer, Snoop Dogg, Josh Hutcherson, Nick Lachey, Macklemore, Andy Dalton, and more. As previously mentioned, tickets for this game also include the Futures game. Prices have a wide range, but in our opinion, watching Snoop Dogg play ball with Nick Lachey is worth it. (Ticket prices range)

Monday, July 13

All-Star Summer Pepsi Block Party downtown on East Freedom Way. Enjoy food, drinks, music, games, prizes, and giveaways from 12pm to 8pm on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Pro-tip: head here for the All-Star experience without paying for tickets to events. (Open to the public)

The Home Run Derby at Great American Ball Park. This popular event is a bracket-style, timed event where players have five minutes to hit as many home runs as possible. All eyes will be on the Reds own Todd Frazier, who came in second at the 2014 Home Run Derby. Tickets include the entire Gatorade All-Star Workout Day events at Great American (Tickets range, cheapest $149 standing room only)

Tuesday, July 14

All-Star Red Carpet show at the Westin Hotel. Watch the All-Stars head down to Great American. (Free to the public)

All-Star Game at Great American Ball Park. The main event. Tickets are sold out, but resellers abound on sites like StubHub, where the cheapest tickets were going for $599…standing room only. If you weren’t lucky enough to snag a ticket (we weren’t either), a number of bars and restaurants are hosting viewing parties. has a list of the best places to watch the game here and here, especially if you're a fan of beer with your baseball
